The heating and cooling sector is constantly evolving, meaning that the MEMA Technical Education Center is continually refining and expanding our course offerings.
We have a selection of one- and two-day training sessions on various topics. These classes are opportunities for you to develop your skills and bring knowledge back to your company.
Here is a rundown of the one- and two-day classes that MTEC currently offers.

This training is part of our HVAC-R Professional Certification and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration programs. We also offer this as a stand-alone course for qualified technicians.
This one-day hands-on course covers the regulations and safe handling of flammable refrigerants, including hydrocarbon refrigerants. The hands-on portion involves working with A2L refrigerants and learning how to recover refrigerants.
This training is part of our HVAC-R Professional Certification. We also offer this as a stand-alone course.
This two-day class covers the process of sizing and installing a combination gas furnace/heat pump. We examine several equipment brands and identify the similarities and specific installation requirements. We also cover zoning with dampers and ductwork installation requirements.
This training is part of our HVAC-R Professional Certification. We also offer this as a stand-alone course.
This one-day hands-on class covers common issues experienced in the field for both gas and oil-burning equipment — and how they can be resolved. We perform actual combustion testing using different brands of equipment.
This training is part of our HVAC-R Professional Certification. We also offer this as a stand-alone course.
This is a one-day hands-on class that encompasses properly installing and setting up powered and power-sharing thermostats. We will review thermostats from Nest, Ecobee, Lyric T-6 and more. Working in the lab, you will learn to connect each of these thermostats to oil and gas-fired equipment.
