Are you looking for a fulfilling, valued and well-paying career? Countless motivated Mainers are finding just that in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration sector.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, our country will likely add more than 400,000 new HVAC jobs in this decade. These are high-skill positions for active and engaged workers — and they ensure the safety and comfort of Maine residents.

The MEMA Technical Education Center has developed a slate of training programs in partnership with the 300 Maine Energy Marketers Association member companies. These companies provide guidance on our training processes and donate modern energy-efficient equipment for our students to work on. They understand the value of MTEC’s education programs in fostering the next generation of HVAC technicians.

The comprehensive Air Conditioning and Heat Pump program can be completed in three weeks or less, after which you have your EPA Section 608 Technician Certification and a broad understanding of central air conditioning systems and electric heat pumps, meeting all training requirements for Efficiency Maine.

If you already have your EPA Section 608 certification, you can take our Mini Split Installer Training as a stand-alone course.

This is Maine’s most thorough Oilheat technician training, and you can complete it in only five weeks! At the end, you will be ready to take your Maine Journeyman’s Oil Burner exam. You’ll also have a 200-hour Oilheat Certificate, reducing your required apprenticeship time from 2,000 hours to 1,000.

MTEC offers Maine’s most comprehensive Fuel Board Approved Propane and Natural Gas technician training that uses as enhanced version of PERC PEP. You will learn appliance installation and service, tank setting and gas line placement. And we prepare you to take your state certification exam.

A student who completed this course recently raved about their experience:

I am tremendously grateful to have had the opportunity to attend your class. I have never taken any course where the instructor is still active in the field they’re instructing, and it has hands down been my overall best classroom experience ever. I have sifted through the many files and templates you have gifted me and created new folders on my own computer. Having actual examples of proper business etiquette regarding how to formally quote a job and address the customer with product literature and transparency is honestly my biggest take away from your class. As someone who does estimates for their employer, and is also starting their own business, you have offered me a great deal of value. I absolutely can’t thank you enough.
